Magnolia Minutes - Is This Normal?

Boy Moms, I’m sure I’m just late to this party, but I have to ask...

Is this normal?

Because boys are gross.

Not bad gross.

Just boy gross.

The kind of gross that makes you question their decision making while simultaneously loving them more than life itself.

And my LB1? He's the absolute love of my life.

So, LB1 plays football, which means workouts, summer league, conditioning and enough sweating to qualify as a natural disaster.

He comes home after practice and instead of letting himself into the house like a normal human being, he rings the doorbell.

Every.

Single.

Time.

Why?

Because we have a giant dog who loses his ever-loving mind when the doorbell rings.

LB1 apparently finds this hilarious.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to work.

The dog is barking.

The doorbell is echoing through the house.

And I already know exactly who it is.

He walks into my office, bends down, gives me the biggest side hug, kisses the top of my head and says:

"I love you, Mom."

And for just a second, my heart absolutely melts.

My sweet boy.

My football player.

My baby who's somehow bigger than me now.

Then...

That child squatted down and strategically positioned my face directly under his armpit.

And squeezed.

Friends.

He had literally just finished football workouts.

I cannot adequately describe what happened next.

The smell had layers.

There were notes.

A bouquet, if you will.

I think my soul briefly left my body.

Meanwhile, LB1 was laughing so hard he could barely stand up.

And honestly?

So was I.

Because as absolutely disgusting as it was...

I'd give just about anything for a few more years of surprise hugs, random "I love you's" and football-player armpit attacks.

Boy moms...

Is this normal?

Please tell me this is normal.?!??!
